Coronavirus Update: Live Theatre closed
This is just an interval!
We hope all our friends, supporters, audiences, Live Youth Theatre Members, creative associates, volunteers and those we are yet to meet, are staying safe and well throughout these challenging times.
We will continue to work behind the scenes to ensure we are well-positioned to bring you another brilliant programme of plays, events and creative opportunities, once the doors to Live Theatre re-open.
There are so many stories still to tell. The spotlight will shine bright once again on our stage.
THEATRE will be LIVE soon!
Live Theatre statement 31 March 2020
Amidst the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Live Theatre’s staff and Board are committed to doing all we can to ensure Live Theatre reopens as soon as possible and work can continue as soon as it is safe to do so.
After reviewing the latest updates from the UK Government, Live Theatre’s Board has made the difficult decision to furlough some of the Theatre’s staff (leave of absence).
In this continually evolving situation, we will continue to monitor developments and recommendations as they arise, providing further updates.
This measure is required in order to ensure the long-term sustainability of Live Theatre and its creative programme and to support the continued employment and livelihoods of the team, our creative associates and the freelance sector.
Be assured, that during this time, there will be a small team continuing to work from their homes to provide communications, process payments, manage enquiries etc.
Work will continue towards re-opening the doors to Live Theatre as soon as the lockdown is lifted and we aim to bring you another brilliant programme of plays, events and creative opportunities.
Thank you once again to all those who have very kindly made donations instead of ticket refunds, your very generous support during this difficult time is really appreciated.
In the meantime, please check out FAQs here.

Updated Fri 27 March 2020
In response to the advice from the UK Government with regards to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Live Theatre is closed and all events and activities suspended until further notice.
Our primary concern remains the safety and wellbeing of our audiences, participants, staff and the Live Theatre community and we continue to do all we can to help reduce the spread of Coronavirus.
We have made contact with all ticket holders with options for:
· A full refund
· Credit to their account valid for 12 months from re-opening
· Donating the face value of their tickets
However, If you are a ticket holder and have not heard from us, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will process your preference.
We have been humbled by the incredible generosity from customers and donors and the support shown to Live Theatre and the wider theatre and cultural industry.
We understand that in these challenging times not everyone is in a position to make a donation so we will ensure that credits or refunds are processed as promptly as possible.
As a charity and a new writing theatre, a community of theatre makers depend on us to support their livelihood. We would encourage you, if you are in a position to, by making a donation that you can comfortably afford, becoming a Friend of Live Theatre, or by purchasing a gift voucher so others can enjoy the gift of theatre, we would be very grateful.
In the coming weeks we will continue to share creative content so do continue to follow us on our social media channels. Myself and the team are working hard from the safety of our homes to plan for re-opening and we hope to see you soon.
Coronavirus Update: Live Theatre closed until further notice
Further to advice issued on Monday 16 March by the UK Government with regards to the threat of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Live Theatre has taken the decision to temporarily close from Tuesday 17 March 2020.
All Live Theatre events and activities will be suspended with immediate effect and the venue will remain closed until further notice.
Our primary concern is the safety and health of our audiences, participants and staff and we wish to do all we can to help reduce the spread of Coronavirus. We would like to express our thanks for the continued support of our audiences and hope to re-open as soon as possible following government recommendations. We will be contacting all ticketholders with regard to claiming refunds for cancelled performances. We would appreciate your patience at this time.
Live Theatre is a charitable enterprise and we would encourage those that can afford to donate the cost of their ticket in lieu of a refund to show support for the theatre industry, to do so.
