Celebrating 25 Years of Billy Elliot!

Join us for a very special fundraising event: Celebrating 25 Years of Billy Elliot! - the three times BAFTA Award Winning film, that tells the story of a young boy from the North East who discovers his talent for ballet, against the gritty backdrop of the Miner's Strike in the 1980s.

Academy Award Nominee and writer of the film, Lee Hall, will take to our stage in conversation with Dr James Leggott, Associate Professor at Northumbria School of Design, Arts and Creative Industries and author of a brand new book about the movie, Billy Elliot (BFI Film Classics), to chat about the 2000 British coming of age comedy-drama that wowed critics and achieved great commercial success.  There will also be some very special guests from the film's cast joining them onstage!

Did you know that...
Lee Hall developed Billy Elliot from his play Dancer, which premiered as a rehearsed reading in 1998 at - yes - our very own Live Theatre!!! That really is something to celebrate!

Tickets cost £30 each and include a complimentary drink on arrival plus canapés from 6.30pm with the interview starting at 7.30pmAll proceeds raised from this event will go towards commissioning and supporting North East playwrights.

There will be an opportunity to purchase Dr Leggott's book and have it signed during the evening.

We hope that you will join us for this special celebration that will help us in our commitment to championing new writing.
