Banish Boredom This Summer with Live Theatre's Super Holiday Schools

Children with a flair for the dramatic and storytelling can get creative and unleash their imaginations over the summer holidays with Live Theatre’s new Summer School.

The Newcastle Quayside theatre’s fantastic team of facilitators will lead participants on fun-filled sessions where they can harness their creativity, meet new friends, challenge themselves and see new ideas spring to life.

The programme, developed and devised for children aged 7 to 10 and 11 to 15years will be delivered from Monday 20 to Friday 24 July and Monday 27 to Friday 31 July.

Week One is all about creating an original show from scratch. A Play In A Week will see Live Makers (7 to 10yrs) and Live Creators (11 to 15 yrs) explore drama, storytelling and devising techniques with theatre games, improvisation and collaboration. The week culminates in an informal sharing of shows for parents and and carers in the Studio.

Stories is the focus of week two. 7 to 10 year old Live Makers can step into the world of stories over five fun filled days with Story Makers. Drama games, storytelling and hands on crafts provide a perfect mix and inspiration for the creation of their very own. 11 to 15 year old Live Creators can develop their own original tale in the immersive Story Writers. Creative writing, drama exercises and joint activities will help participants explore character, plot and narrative techniques. Both Live Makers and Live Creators will create their own orginal illustrated story to take home.

With expert guidance the Summer Schools are perfect for youngsters with a flair for the dramatic and a passion for storytelling. Each session runs from 9:30am to 3:30pm daily and cost £150 per child per week. Find out more and book
