We are overjoyed to welcome back to Live Theatre our great friend, the legend that is Jimmy Nail along with an esteemed group of musicians bringing the songs from the hit BBC One TV series Crocodile Shoes (1994-96) to our stage.

This early run-up to a new stage musical currently in development with Live Theatre gives audiences the chance to enjoy the series’ widely-loved songs up close for the first time in three decades.

Musicians include: Trevor Brewis (drums), Tony Davis (piano), Michael McCrystal (electric guitar), Dave Taggart (acoustic guitar).

Trevor Brewis

Trevor’s music career began in the vibrant North East working men’s club scene, where he first connected with key collaborators like Jimmy Nail and Dave Taggart. He gained early recognition through bands such as the Toy Dolls, Steve Brown Band, and most notably Danceclass, a power-pop group signed to A&M Records in the early 1980s. The band toured extensively and supported major acts like Judie Tzuke, Sad Café and John Martyn.

Trevor’s versatility as a drummer led him into session and soundtrack work, contributing to Jimmy Nail’s acclaimed 'Crocodile Shoes' album. In 1990, he joined the rock band Roadhouse (with ex-Def Leppard guitarist Pete Willis), signed to Mercury Records, and toured with names like Ian Gillan and Saxon. Their single 'Hell Can Wait' reaching number 9 on the UK Rock Chart.

More recently, Trevor recorded two albums with award-winning guitarist Trevor Sewell with one being recorded in Nashville’s famous ‘Sound Emporium’ whilst playing in legendary venues such as Whiskey a Go Go, El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles and BB Kings, Studio 54 in New York.

To date Trevor has been touring alongside Tony Davis (Keys) in the acclaimed Irish music show 'One Night in Dublin', delighting audiences across the UK and Europe.

Tony Davis is a seasoned professional musician, producer, and engineer whose passion for sound has shaped a remarkable career spanning over 30 years. With roots deeply embedded in performance and production, Tony has shared the stage with numerous acclaimed bands, including The Caffrey Brothers and Prelude, and has brought music to life in international touring theatre productions such as 'One Night In Dublin' and 'The Big Country Music Show'.

Tony’s journey through the world of music is defined by a rare blend of artistic intuition and technical mastery. As the driving force behind Cluny Recording Studios for over two decades, he has cultivated a creative hub where musicians from all walks of life can explore, refine, and realize their sonic visions. His ability to seamlessly move between the roles of musician, producer, and engineer makes him a true cornerstone in the UK music scene.

Deeply committed to the evolving world of music technology and production, Tony continuously seeks new ways to innovate and inspire. Whether he’s behind the mixing desk or on stage playing piano, his work resonates with authenticity, craftsmanship, and an unwavering love for the art of sound.

Michael McCrystal

Michael McCrystal

Michael McCrystal (Micky Crystal) has carved out a formidable reputation in the North East music scene. Embarking on his professional journey at the age of 19, Micky swiftly ascended to the global stage gracing recordings and stages across the world. Notable among his endeavours are his stints with bands like Tygers of Pan Tang and collaborations with esteemed session musicians like Marco Mendoza formerly of Whitesnake. More recently Micky showcased his talent in Jimmy Nail’s production 'Seconds Away' as well as the 40th Anniversary Celebration of 'Auf Wiedersehen Pet'. Alongside his touring commitments, Micky is passionate about teaching, imparting his expertise at various prestigious institutions. Currently, he holds the position of Music Lecturer at Newcastle College and is sought after for his bespoke video product demonstrations and lesson packages by acclaimed guitar companies such as Bare Knuckle Pickups, Laney Amps, Elixir Strings and JTC Guitar. Micky is delighted to be part of the celebration of 'Crocodile Shoes' and to share the stage with Jimmy again.

Dave Taggart

Dave Taggart

As well as long term guitar / backing vocalist for international artist Belinda Carlisle, Dave was in the original line up for the live band that toured the 'Crocodile Shoes' catalogue of songs. Dave’s music career stretches way back to the plethora of folks clubs that thrived in the North East.

From there he ventured into the rock domain and became front man for various bands before signing to A&M records with the eponymous Newcastle/ Sunderland band ‘DanceClass’. The move to London saw Dave sessioning on such diverse acts as heavy metal band Saxon to recording material in New York.

On his return, he teamed up yet again with old Danceclass band mate Tony Mac’ to record an album in Germany.

By this time Jimmy was in the throws of writing 'Crocodile Shoes' and the rest is history.

Dave moved down to Brighton in 1998 and immediately landed the job with Belinda Carlisle and since then has toured the world with her many times.

Lately Dave’s music has gone full circle and in his down time he plays with phenomenal local Brighton bluegrass group The Seagrass Band..
