SCRATCH NIGHT

Our scratch night is an opportunity for artists to take risks, have fun, and experiment with fellow creatives in front of a Live Theatre audience, hungry for exciting new theatre! Come watch North East based artists presenting fresh ideas and showcase projects in development.

Enjoy:

Voice Notes by Maryam Ali
Samira has been signed off from work with stress and sends a series of voice notes to her sister. Talking interrupted allows her the freedom to vocalise things she hasn’t previously said out loud, but we see how she begins to question her perception of reality.

A Selkie’s Song by Jonah York
Inspired by the ancient Scottish folk tale, this bold new work reimagines the Selkie legend through a visceral, multi-sensory lends. This is storytelling that’s hopefully a bit fearless, playful, and alive – an invitation to dive into something a bit strange, beautiful and wild. Expect foley soundscapes,  haunting folk music, physical theatre and clowning.

A War On Two Frontal Lobes by Reece Lumsden
Combining elements of stand-up, theatre and clowning, Worm Daniels explores hard-hitting topics, such as living with IBS, discovering their sexuality, and their love of masturbation and pornography. This show is aimed at the people who feel like outsiders, circles that don’t fit in square holes or just anyone who feels like they never had a voice.

260 Magic Tricks with The Mysterious Mr. Mysten by Jamie Morren
A theatre-based magic show presented to you by The Mysterious Mr Mysten – a master of illusion – and his assistant, Miss Direction. After months of hard work, The Mysterious Mr Mysten and his glamorous assistant, Miss Direction, finally feel it is time to make the world believe in the unbelievable.

Nebby Nebby by Connor Read
A comedic tribute to the Northern nana, mixed with feminism, true crime and ABBA. This piece explores the mysteries that surface in the wake of loss of a matriarch – questions we never got to ask, and answers we were never meant to uncover.

Swingers by Julie Noble
A faded family home. A cracked record of secrets. Thirty four years after the party stopped, two siblings dance around the truth.
