*Introduction of Ticket Levy 2024

Live Theatre is based in a complex of special, historic buildings on Newcastle’s Quayside. It is a unique space that we care about and strive to maintain to the highest level.

This year we have introduced a Ticket Levy to all of our bookings to support the cost of looking after our buildings.  A levy is an additional charge added to your ticket price which is ring fenced for something particular.  We will use the money raised by the Levy to invest in and maintain our beautiful buildings.

We have resisted implementing any additional charges before as we do our best to look after the theatre and keep ticket prices as low as we possibly can. However, every year we spend over £50,000 on basic annual repair and maintenance costs and this is before we add in emergency repairs and the cost of running the building which is increasing every year.

We have set the Levy at £1 per ticket, if we sell 15,000 tickets per year we will have £15,000 we don’t currently have that is ringfenced for protecting the venue you know and love.

We haven’t taken this decision lightly as we want as many people as possible to enjoy a night out with us.  We’d like to thank you in advance for supporting us and you can be assured we are grateful for the support you give us.  Each year we will provide an update on how we have spent the Levy so you can see how you have contributed to safeguarding Live Theatre.
