The Schoolhouse

The Schoolhouse is a hub for creative and digital businesses, located  in a converted 19th century building adjoining the theatre which offers refurbished office space in a prime quayside location close to Law Courts, cafes and restaurants, and with good local transport links including bus, rail and Metro.

Developed and managed by Live Theatre, The Schoolhouse was completed in 2013 and its rental income is channelled back into supporting the theatre’s artistic and education work.

The Schoolhouse is currently home to BSG Ecology on the 1st floor.

The redevelopment was supported by funding through European Regional Development Fund 2007-2013 and Arts Council England.

Third Floor Attic Room Currently Available to Rent

Currently available is the Third Floor Attic Room, one large beamed attic space of 36.1 sqm (388.6 sqft)* with an adjoining kitchen and north facing skylights looking over the historic Trinity Chambers complex. The offices benefit from a shared ground floor meeting room, a shared ground floor kitchen and toilets.

Second Floor Office Available from July 2019

Available from July 2019 is the Second Floor Office space directly underneath the Attic space. The second floor consists of one Large Office 70.84 sqm (762.5 sqft) two feature fireplaces and six large windows with exceptional southerly views across the Georgian courtyard and the recently developed Live Garden to Sage Gateshead across the  River Tyne.. A secondary small office space measuring 11.07 sqm (119.2 sqft) is accessed through the main office. 

A lift is available to the first floor only.

This historical 19th Georgian building, originally built as a school for mariners’ children was sensitively converted to a high standard by Live Theatre in 2013 into a modern business hub.  The building is adjoining and accessed through Live Theatre’s beautifully refurbished and historic buildings and benefits from shared access and shared facilities including an additional meeting room and kitchen on the Ground Floor. A lift is available to the first floor only.

These spaces are available separately or together, on flexible leases.

Live Theatre also has two other great offices available to rent close by on Newcastle Quayside of 783sqft and 5,258 sqft.
