Cast announced for Wishes On The Wind
Live Theatre announces the cast of Wishes On The Wind a new play with music by Benjamin Storey. Running from Thursday 8 to Sunday 18 December the play stars Caitlyn Barber and Luke Hammond, who both make their Live Theatre debut.
Set across five New Year’s Eves, Benjamin Storey’s (Skeletons in Cullercoats & Gutter Weeds - Live Theatre) full length Live Theatre debut, is about finding connection, losing it again and desperately trying not to self-sabotage. Can a chance Christmas encounter set off a sequence of events that unwrap the answers that Charlie and Sam have both been looking for?
Taking on the part of social media influencer Sam, is Caitlyn Barber. Born in North Shields, Caitlyn trained in musical theatre at The MTA London, graduating in 2020. Some of her theatre and film credits include: Accidental Death of an Anarchist (Maria Feletti); Red Riding Hood (Red Riding Hood); Underground (Jessica). This is Caitlyn’s North East acting debut, having previously performed in other regions such as London and Guernsey.
Troubled musician Charlie is played by Luke Hammond. Originally from Walker, Luke trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, graduating in 2022. Wishes on the Wind marks his professional acting debut. Previously a member of Live’s Regional Young Actors Ensemble, Luke also appeared at Northern Stage as a member of their Young Company in Where Do We Stand, and Where Do We Belong. He is delighted to be starting his career where it all began.
This production will also feature a short play by Alison Scurfield (Intergalactic - Live Theatre) as a festive curtain raiser. Two treats for the price of one!
Both playwrights have been developed through Live Theatre's talent development programme.
Graeme Thompson, director of Wishes On The Wind said: “This is the perfect alternative play to come see with friends in the run up to Christmas. It’s a contemporary romantic comedy set in the North East with a fun and cheeky script, but with some songs and a bit of dancing, it’s got all the Christmassy feels to get you in the festive mood. I’m really excited to be working with Caitlyn and Luke. They are both fantastic actors and perfect for this play.”
A tender, romantic comedy with songs, Wishes On The Wind will be the perfect foot tapping treat for the festive season.
Tickets are priced from £10 to £24 and concessions from £6 available from www.live.org.uk or from Box Office on (0191) 232 1232. With a VIP Christmas theatre and party night package also available, Wishes On the Wind makes for the perfect alternative Christmas night out.
