Do you want to have a better understanding of how great plays work?

This course will explore some of the key aspects of writing a play for the stage, including theatricality, character progression, dialogue and plot. Led by Chinonyerem Odimba, Live Theatre’s Writer-in- Residence, it will include a mix of practical workshops and master-classes.

This is an opportunity for emerging playwrights at an early stage in their career to engage with Live Theatre and hone their writing skills. Previous participants include Nina Berry (The Terminal Velocity of Snowflakes), Alison Carr (Iris) and Paddy Campbell (Wet House).

The Introduction to Playwriting course is a friendly and informal programme aimed at writers at an early stage in their career. We are not looking for participants with vast experience of writing for the stage but a willingness to explore, create and imagine.

Free, by application. Limited places.
