Filmmaker Commission

Live Theatre’s acclaimed Children and Young People’s Team are looking for an imaginative filmmaker to curate, film and edit a short piece of work created by 100 members of Live Youth Theatre, and in collaboration with some of the regions most talented theatre makers.

Between October and December 2020, ten groups of young people will meet weekly via Zoom, led by a team of theatre professionals to devise a short piece of performance, exploring what 'reconnection' means to them.  This will be shared online as part of Live Theatre's new digital programme, Live Wired.

Live Theatre is seeking a filmmaker to work alongside these groups and weave the voices of the young people into a cohesive piece of film lasting no longer that twelve minutes.

The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:
- Experience of collaborating with young people in a cultural/ community setting
- A collaborative working style
- Experience in curating and holding the artistic vision of a filmed outcome
- Working to a deadline
- An enhanced DBS which was issued within the last 2 years
- Public Liability Insurance to the sum of £5,000,000

Key dates:
Wk 28th Sep - Wk 19th Oct: Young people devising with theatre makers
Wk 26th Oct - Film maker engages with theatre makers
Wk 2nd Nov - Wk 16th Nov: Devising and rehearsal
Wk 23rd Nov and Wk 30th Nov: Filming performances

We are keen for the successful applicant to work with the CYP team to manage their time accordingly based on what they feel is needed to complete the film to a high standard within a timeframe that suits the fee.

£2000 - This fee includes the curation, filming and editing process plus any travel or accommodation expenses that may be incurred.
