Live Tales Story Writing Workshops

Free, fun, inspiring story writing workshops in Newcastle & Sunderland

Observe your class embrace creativity as worlds are built, characters come to life, and ideas spark excitement and confidence. See them explore original thinking and discover their voice as they write their own stories.

Live Tales sessions take place in Live Theatre's creative writing centre, located behind the theatre just off Newcastle's Quayside, and at The Fire Station in Sunderland. 

Supports Arts Award and ArtsMark.

Current Timetable - all sessions run during term time
Wednesdays (Sunderland) 10am-12pm
Wednesdays (online) 1-2:30pm - we can be flexible with this time
Thursdays (Newcastle) 10am-12pm
Fridays (Newcastle) 10am-12pm

Live Theatre's volunteers are an incredible group of people who give a wealth of energy and enthusiasm to the work of the theatre. Volunteer roles involve supporting and encouraging children and young people to write and illustrate their stories. All volunteers receive ongoing training and support, a programme of social events and some discounts at Live Theatre. Live Tales writing and illustration mentors volunteer at both our Newcastle and Sunderland sites.
