Queer & Now, showcases a rainbow of talent

February is LGBTQ+ History Month and Live Theatre are joining in the celebrations by staging Queer and Now a week of work from queer artists from Tuesday 18 to Saturday 22 February.

The rainbow line-up includes the five star Riot Act which takes us on a journey through six decades of queer history on Thursday 20 February. This frank and uninhibited show, written and performed by Alexis Gregory, is taken from interviews with three key players in the history of the gay rights movement.

W*nk Buddies sees two different sexualities collide in a mix of pints, heels, dads, school, relationships, gay bars and dance routines.  Showing on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 February, the show returns to Live Theatre after a sell out run at Elevator Festival 2019.

Then Leap on Tuesday 18 February is a Work In Progress Reading by award winning writer, Laura Lindow. An empowering, lyrical love story about relationships new and weathered, about coming out and about facing down the charging elephant.

Another special treat in store is the Queer and Now Scratch Night on Wednesday 19 February, a showcase of eight extracts of new theatre pieces by LGBTQ+ artists working and living in the North East. Hosted by none other than Bonnie of Bonnie and the Bonnettes, expect a lip-sync or two and experience some of the regions most exciting new theatre.
