Live Youth Theatre Turns 21!

We're excited for Turning Points this Sat 6 & Sun 7 Apr 2019, an action-packed weekend celebrating Live Youth Theatre’s 21st Birthday.

Over this weekend you can see an exciting range of performances curated by young people with the support of a dedicated team of professional theatre makers. The stage will be bursting with talent.

Live Youth Theatre started in 1998 when Max Roberts, then Artistic Director, invited Paul James to set up a Youth Theatre group at Live Theatre. Over the past 21 years it has inspired thousands of young people in the region through drama and created opportunities for them to perform locally and internationally, with some becoming professional actors. But more importantly it is a safe space for young people, supporting their well-being, giving them confidence and key life skills.

Through the Youth Theatre, Live Theatre has commissioned many writers, produced hundreds of shows and won many awards. None of this is possible without the commitment, dedication and passion of the young people – and of course the endless support of their parents and carers! Thank you.

Youth Theatre changes lives and we want to shout about how important it is in this anniversary year.

We hope to reunite current and former Youth Theatre members and drama workers at a Garden Party over the summer, show work by current members and find out what previous members have been up to, and where they are now.

We look forward to the next 21 years with a whole heap of excitement and optimism. Happy Birthday, Live Youth Theatre!

Paul James, Senior Creative Associate
& Joe Douglas, Artistic Director
