THE BROAD CHARE

The Broad Chare is a proper pub serving proper beer and proper food.  The Broad Chare is a new kind of 'old' pub: all the best bits of traditional inn-keeping, given a fresh, modern touch.  It's warm friendly, welcoming and the result of a happy partnership between Live Theatre and Terry Laybourne's 21 Hospitality Group.  Housed over two floors the main dining area, with 56 seats, is situated on the first floor.  Downstairs is the bar and separate 'snug' where snacks are served daily.

The Drink - thirst-quenching, satisfying hits the spot
The Broad Chare has house ales from Wylam Brewery, just up the Tyne Valley, including our own house brew, The Writer's Block, a lovely dry-hopped pale ale. There are also regularly changing guest beers, Guinness and Peroni on tap, top-quality Aspall's Sufflok cider, and a decent range of wines by the glass. Take your time, savour the taste.

The Broad Chare's menus offer honest, home-cooked food like pubs used to serve. Simple lunchtime snacks of pork pies, ploughman's and Scotch eggs, or maybe Lancashire hot pot, and definately fish 'n chips on Fridays.
