Volunteer at Live Tales
Do you want to help children to become more creative and confident story-writers?
Do you have time to volunteer on Thursday or Friday mornings?
Live Tales is always looking for volunteers to help out at its weekday creative writing workshops with school classes of young people aged 7-11. Volunteers support Live Theatre’s experienced drama workers to deliver fun creative writing workshops helping young people to explore their imagination, develop communication skills and grow in confidence.
“What a buzz! Love the games and format. All child-centred and creative. Brings writing to life.” Current Volunteer
“This is such a joyous thing to do!” Current Volunteer
During the workshops volunteers encourage small groups of students as they work on their writing. There is never any emphasis on spelling or grammar.
Live Tales is also looking for volunteer illustrators to bring the young people’s ideas to life by creating illustrations to accompany their story.
Everyone (as long as they are over 18) and is a good listener is welcome to volunteer. Current volunteers include students, retired people, teachers, journalists and artists. Live Tales provides full training sessions and support for all Live Tales volunteers, who are also subject to disclosure checks.
Live Tales is located behind Live Theatre just off Newcastle’s Quayside. Launched in September 2016, Live Tales offers fun and interactive story writing workshops for Key Stage 2 classes (ages 7-11). Find out more about bringing a class to visit Live Tales.
