NEW WRITING

Live Theatre aims to produce the best new work by writers from and/or living in the North East of England.

Committed to helping people achieve their ambitions Live Theatre offers support and advice to writers of all abilities -from first-time writers to successful playwrights. Live Theatre also runs a series of events, courses and workshops for all aspiring writers to listen and take part in.

On the first Thursday of every month join Live Theatre’s New Writing Studio Sessions and listen to some of the country’s leading playwrights talk about their work, be one of the first to watch a rehearsed reading of a new play or take part in Short Cuts, Live Theatre’s open access night.

Alternatively why not enrol on a ‘Introduction to Playwriting’ course, submit your play to the theatre’s script reading service or take part in an online version of Short Cuts all free of charge?

Live Writers is an informal writers' group where members have the chance to develop their own work with dramaturgical support from Gez Casey and Steve Gilroy. Membership is open to writers who have completed Live’s Introduction to Playwrighting course. If you haven’t completed the course we will also consider writers who can show a good understanding of the principles of playwrighting.

Details of sessions to be announced. For details of the application process please email degna@live.org.uk
